The 200AW is built around a purpose driven feature set that favors function over fluff. At its core is the adjustable tension welt originally developed by Hank Sloan of the FBI, delivering early resistance in the draw and a secure hold without sacrificing speed. Since the tension welt bears against the frame just in front of the trigger guard, resistance is overcome early in the draw stroke. Elmer Keith also had a hand in this design by requesting that a shroud be incorporated to help prevent sharp checkered hammers from wearing holes in his jacket liners. Because of its heavy-duty design, the 200AW is best described as being a field or range type holster. These 200AWs features a smooth-out construction for both the main body and reinforced mouth-band. A rearward "FBI" rake balances comfort, speed of draw, and footprint. Configured for right-handed shooters (holster on the right side, mag carriers on the left side).
