As some of you may have seen from our past posts and newsletters, Paul from PSD Designs sadly passed away a few years ago. Paul was a true innovator, original, creative, and a guy who left his mark on everything he touched. In his honor, we've decided to bring back one of his creations: The spanner tool for the Strider and Hinderer folders. Knowing Paul's obsessive eye for detail, we wanted to make sure this project was done right. That's why we teamed up with of our stellar OE manufacturers who we knew could carry the torch and deliver the level of precision and quality Paul himself would have demanded.
The Monkey Wrench it the perfect go-to tool for all your Strider and Hinderer pivot adjustment needs. Whether you are rocking Strider folders, Hinderer folders, and especially awesome if you have both, this tool is just the ticket for your maintenance needs. Made from tempered 416 stainless steel so they will last as long as the knives they are workin' on. One side fits the Strider folders while the other fits knives from Rick Hinderer. The Strider and Hinderer pivots are among the strongest in the business but both require a specialized tool to optimally adjust tension. The centering pin on for the Strider side on these tools keeps the them from slipping and scratching your knives. The Monkey Wrench tool is superbly designed and machined to have no hard edges.
The Strider end will work with the standard large Strider bull pivot commonly found on the SnG and SMF, as well as most of their other folders (will NOT work with the PT).
The Hinderer end will work with almost all of Hinderer's current and past folder lineup (will not work with the Firetac).
Please note: Strider Knives does not recommended total disassembly of their folders. Please use tool only to adjust pivot tension. If your pivot is extra tight, apply some heat to loosen the locktite adhesive. Please also note that these will not fit the PT models. Additionaly, these tools carry the PSD logo, but they weren't made by Paul himself. This run is meant as a tribute to him and his original design.
